Google Chrome calls out insecure websites

Google has been banging on about this for some time now… it wants your website to be secure and if it’s not, visitors are going to know about it. Back in January 2017, Google started identifying insecure websites that contained password or credit card fields. From 1st July, 2018, Google has gone one step further. Websites that do not have a TLS (Transport Layer Security) or SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate installed will be named and shamed in the Chrome browser, regardless of whether information is being collected or not. Google has even gone so far as to ‘hint’ that there may be SEO benefits in it for those who make the move to encyption. Enticing right? If you’re not familiar with installing security certificates, the steps involved can be a little overwhelming.
